🎗️ Riley’s Army – Supporting Families Fighting Childhood Cancer

Riley’s Army is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to walking alongside families whose children are battling cancer. The organization provides emotional support, monthly grocery and gas gift cards, meal assistance, and family-centered events that bring comfort and community during an incredibly difficult time. Together, we can spread kindness, joy, and practical support to families who truly need it this season.

This holiday season, WBON is proud to partner with Riley’s Army Triangle to make a tangible impact.

💛 Ways to Get Involved (Q4 2025)

  • Adopt a Family for Thanksgiving – Donate a $100 Food Lion or Walmart gift card or provide a complete Thanksgiving meal kit for a local family. 
  • Host a Toy Drive – Set up a collection box at your office (any time through Dec 5). All toys collected by Dec 5 will go toward the Family Christmas Party.
  • Volunteer for the Family Christmas Party 🎄

💖 Smiling While Sending Hope (SWSH) – Delivering Joy to Children & Families

Smiling While Sending Hope (SWSH) is a North Carolina 501(c)(3) founded by Katie Haynes to bring happiness, comfort, and encouragement to children and families facing chronic illness, rare diseases, or special needs. What began as a 4-H project has grown into a community-powered nonprofit that delivers care packages, toys, and support to hospitals and families across the Triangle.

How You Can Help (Holiday Season)

  • Donate / Sponsor a Care Package for kids and families in medical care
  • Join the Christmas Toy & Food Drive (Triangle-wide drop-offs)
  • Volunteer to sort, wrap, and deliver items in early December
  • Partner as a Drop-Off Site (businesses, schools, neighborhoods)
